Community Ownership and Development - Towards Sustainable Livelihoods!

  The lack of information ration subcommittee along with CC members organized an informative seminar on ration issue which was held on 16 th Dec. 2017 at Church hall Pali. A total of 87 head of the families participated in the meeting in order to solve their rationing issues. The main objective of the session was to provide information on food security act and to make people realize the strength in unity while dealing with issues. The resource person for the session was Mrs. Taruna Kumbhar, member of the Rationing Kruti Samiti(RKS), works on issues related to the Public distribution system and Food Security. On 29 th November 2017 Savdhan Samaj Kendra, Manori organized the first interactive meeting with Farmers at St. Padri Pio zone, Manori with a total of seven participants. Ms. Snehal CCO staff gave a brief introduction of the CCO. She specified the objectives that is to provide information on farming and the importance on the formation of groups to address issues. During the meeting, she inquired on the types of crops, the season in which they are cultivated and the difficulties they face. The Farmers replied that it is only during the monsoon they would cultivate rice & vegetables and the rest of the season they are stuck to selling ‘Thadgole’ (A kind of fruit). Mr. Dayanand, CSA staff gave adequate information on crops which could be cultivated with less water usage since the farmers were dependant on the rainy season. A three days diwali camp was held at Church hall, Pali for the Bal Sansad group from 16 th to 18 th October 2017. Forty nine children attended the session. The resource persons for the camp were Fr. Sandeep Borges, Br. Melborn, Ms. Sanjina Bhandari, Ms. Sneha Patil and Ms. Nasim Kasughar. On 16 th Oct. the first day of the camp Fr. Sandeep Borges highlighted on the topic called ‘Responsible leadership & Facilitation becoming Animators’ for thirty six  Bal Sansad  children. Through games & interactions he explained how one can be a responsible leaders or Facilitators and explained the roles, responsibilities and qualities needed for it.
