Issues identified at Zonal Level in Gorai - 17-9-17

Culvem Community
The Suryodaya Samaj Kendra have been actively engaging the members at the Zones towards identifying Issues and electing sub leaders to work at finding solutions to solve their local problems. 

Muddan Community
On the 14th of September at Muddan, 17th of September at Culvem, 21st September at Upper Koliwada and 22nd September at Lower Koliwada, the local community zonal members met together and started their discussions as per their planned agenda.


Lower Koliwadi Community Discussion
The CCO Staff - Ms. Nasim took an active part in facilitating the meeting along with Fr. Edward the Director and PP of Gorai. At first Nasim explained the role of the CCO and it activities working with the various target groups of women, senior citizens, kishoris and children. 

Upper Koliwada Community Discussion
The Core Committee's role and their facilitation of addressing the issues of water was shared by the Core Committees in their respective meetings - Ms. Jenifer Kinny and Carol Ferreira at Culvem, by Ms. Sheela at Muddan, Ms. Glenda & Ms. Celeta at Upper Koliwada and Ms. Sandra, Ms. Natal, Ms. Olina, Ms. Sharila & Ms. Riksilla at Lower Koliwada. 


Culvem Community
The 22 participants at Culvem, 32 participants at Muddan, 35 participants in Upper Koliwada and 60 participants in Lower Koliwada were broken up into groups where they discussed their current issues faced. 

After the presentation in each group the issues that were shared in the common discussion is as follows: 
Culvem Community

In Culvem: Hospital, ration, harassment from police, playground, College, bus service, lack of frequency ferry boat, No street light, Road problem, cleanliness, BMC harassment regarding housing, unemployment for women, beach cleanliness, digging road by Reliance ,health club for kids, garbage, water problem, petrol pump.
Muddan Community

In Muddan: Medical Shop, Full time doctor at PHC, Ration, Technical school, Autoriksha, drainage line, cleanliness, water shortage, road slopes, dustbin, village road narrow, lack of frequency ferry boat, Junior college.

Lower Koliwada Community Discussion
In Upper & Lower Koliwada: Medical, Hospital, Water, Ration, Littering waste on the road, No dustbins for wet and dry garbage, Unavailability of Rickshaws even when one is sick or in emergency situations - they give priorities to tourists and not fisherfolks, No street lights, not able to enjoy wedding celebrations as the music stops before 12 midnight.



Upper Koliwada Community Discussion
In each of the villages sub leaders were elected (5 in Culvem, 4 in Muddan, 4 in Upper Koliwada and 6 in Lower Koliwada). The Zonal leaders decided to meet on the 25th September along with Core Committee members and sub leaders.
