Skill Enhancement Session on Gardening for Domestic Workers of Manori 30.11.2017

On 30thNovember 2017 Savdhan Samaj Kendra at Manori organized a skill enhancement session on Gardening for eight domestic working women. The resource person for the session was Mr. Arvind Yadav & Mr. Ramesh Thage who are mentors in the BMC gardening department.

The women were taught different ways to nurture a plant and the method for plantation. A brief information about the MCGM’s Garden and Trees department was given and they were also informed about the low-priced flower seeds and medicinal plants that are sold there. They were invited for the demonstration held at the gardening dept to see the work they do, the different types of plants and the procedure to maintain them. They were ready to teach them all of these. They learnt that all plants require a lot of care and hard work.
The next plan of action of the women at Manori is to visit the Gardening department at Malad, east, as a group and to be skilled in practical knowledge.

Pali Bal Sansad - "Hope" taking initiatives in Planning

“Hope”, the Children’s Balsansad meeting was held on 26 th Aug. 2017 at 11 am. The meeting began with a short prayer by Ms. Carol who then welcomed the participants. The secretary of Children’s group read the previous meeting report which was accepted and agreed by all. Sr. Nisha appreciated her for writing the report briefly in which all agenda points were in the report. Sr. Nisha started the session with an example on the topic of good manners and discipline in a story form. Children have understood well. The moral of the story was that each person’s behavior and personality is on good manners showing respect for the elders, teachers, and parents and also own classmate. A well-disciplined life will help to facilitate communication with others; they allow you to get much more than by using authority. Dongri Village identify Issues to be addressed 18th Sept, 2017

The residents of Dongri Village (around 50 villagers) gathered together for a Village meeting on the 18th Sept, 2017 at Dongri Sabhagruha with an objective to reflect on the issues faced by the village, understand their current situation and the reason for it and to work out a resolve them.  The meeting began with a prayer by Mr. Stephan Borges. He began by mentioning about the work undertaken by Prerna Seva Kendra (Dongri CCO) and the work initiated by the Core Committee. Mr. Dayanand stressed on the need and importance of the village to come together to identify and discuss issues faced by them.  Mr. Harold Borges the Gavki Patil shared on the issues faced by the village.
