Farmers Interaction with District Agriculture Officers, Kalyan 01.06.2018


The district agriculture department has been organizing the Unnat Sheti Abhiyan (progressive farming campaign) from May 25 to June 8, 2018 to create awareness on various government schemes available for farmers.  With this mind CSA’s networking partner Prerna Dongri conducted a farmer’s interaction session on 1st June 2018 for the 19 Tarodi farmers with the District Agriculture Officers, Kalyan department. Besides these the other objectives of the session was to provide in depth knowledge in agriculture fields and its linkages with governance systems.
 
The resource persons were Mr.  P. M. Chandvade-Project Director, (ATMA) Agricultural Technology  Management Agency  Palghar,  Ms S. A. Nikhade-District Agriculture Officer Kalyan, Mr. Aashok Bhoir- Scientist Krushi Vidhyan Kendra Dahanu,  Mrs Vaishali Bhapse – District Technology Manager,  and Mrs Shrada Saudankar- Assistant District Technology Manager ATMA, Kalyan.

Ms S. A. Nikhade, said that Agriculture department regularly organizes various Programmes for development of agriculture sector and welfare of farming community. The government has decided to double farmer’s income by 2022. To increase the farm productivity, the department has decided to organize Unnat Sheti Abhiyan. Various Programmes were organized at village level to make farmers aware of the government schemes available for them. They appealed farmers to participate in this initiative.

Mr.  P. M. Chandvade said that, Generally, farmers are not aware about various schemes that are available for them, such as marketing trends or crop pattern loans, due to which they remain at bay from main stream agricultural sector. Organic farming is a popular trend in farming. They normally follow the organic methods to grow crops. But farmers are not aware that they can earn respectable money from diverse methods. Agriculture department need to start awareness about organic farming.

Mr. Aashok Bhoir mentioned that, “The agriculture government has taken a good initiative for the betterment of farmers. But the government should take efforts at policy level to double the income for farming community. We should get assured prices for our products. Agriculture has become an uncertain business.”
