Creating Garbage Free - Clean Model Villages in Uttan - Survey the first step!

The Core Committee (CC) Members revisited the first Issue of Sanitation and Uncleanliness caused by Garbage in Uttan leading to unhygienic conditions affecting the health of locals. They also decided to review the second issue of Unavailability of Water in Uttan. They decided to collect sufficient information so as to then come up with clear steps of action to deal with these issues.
On the 17th and 24th July, the CC members along with the CCO Staff and SHG women visited two villages - Mothagaon and Devtalav and collected information through a survey format on information points concerning use of dustbins, their methods of garbage disposal, their access of water through taps, use of toilets in the house or in common places and their suggestions on the information sought. In Mothagaon 281 families and in Devtalav 108 families were surveyed.

As a result of this survey, the community has certainly grown in their knowledge of the issues and have expressed their interest in working to resolve the issues too. The information obtained from this survey will be used to have focus group discussions with various groups of men, women and children from the community and those who stay in rented houses. The CC will then make accurate plans and involve the whole community to address them in a concrete manner.
