Pali - CC Issue Prioritization & Formation of Sub Committees

On the 27th of August 2017 at Pali CCO 65 participants consisting of the newly constituted Core Committee and the Ward Sub Leaders met together with the objective to classify and prioritize on the three issues as a CCOs from the commonly identified issues of the Nine Wards and to form three sub committees on the three identified issues.

The Agenda covered the reporting of the 8 ward level meetings conducted and the objectives to Prioritize the three issues and formation of sub committees.

The meeting which covered the span of a little over two hours from 7.30pm to 9.45pm began with a short prayer by core committee member Mrs. Leena D’souza. The previous CC meeting report was read by the secretary Mrs. Ranjana Patil and agreed by all the CC members. Then Ms. Carol Munis welcomed the participants. Sr. Nisha shared the agenda and then appreciated the CC members and ward sub leaders for their co-operation for making arrangements for the meeting and gathering the heads of the families for the common meeting.

Mr. Dayanand invited one volunteer from each ward to write down on the black board the said issues by the secretaries of each ward. From all the 8 wards the common 24 issues were written on the board. He then asked them to classify the same issues which were written down on the black board. The participants then classified the noted issues into 15 issues. From the classified issues, three issues were prioritized by the participants into the following three main issues:
  1. Uncleanliness
  2. Lack of information / Knowledge
  3. Irregular Potable water

Three sub committees were formed based on the three prioritized issues. The participants from each of these committees were then asked to take on the responsibility to collect information and discuss the issue taken up in detail taking into consideration all relevant points.

All the three groups were asked to appoint two main people who would keep the CCO office informed on the process followed to understand and raise the issue in the group. So each committee appointed two main people as responsible leaders. Mr. Melvin Pangya from Caritas India would give training to these leaders from the sub committees on Leadership on the 10th September 2017. All the participants were asked to get more information and guidance on prioritized three above issues.

Outcome:
§  CC members and sub leaders participation was 90%.
§ They classified and prioritized three issues in a short period of time.
§  Willingness, Cooperation & interest from all the participants.
§  The objectives were well understood and voluntarily accepted the responsibilities.

Achievement:
The three sub committees were formed with clear guidance to take the prioritized issues forward.

Challenges:
The CCO Staff found it difficult to mobilize the required finance in order to provide snacks for the participants whenever the common meetings or training are held.
